Peter M. Sylvia, 58, of Dartmouth died October 12, 2014 at Southeastern Mass. Health and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the son of Eva (Aires) Sylvia of New Bedford and the late Arthur Sylvia, he lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth all of his life.
Mr. Sylvia was employed as a master boat builder with Concordia Boatyard before founding Hiliner Marine.
His passion was the ocean, boating, fishing, wildlife and nature.
Survivors include his mother; a brother, Paul Sylvia and his wife Susie of Acushnet; a niece, Holly Sylvia; and several aunts and cousins.
His visiting hours will be on Sunday, October 19th from 2-4 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 20th at 10 AM in St. John Neumann Church. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Anthony of Padua Church Food Pantry, 1359 Acushnet Ave., New Bedford, MA 02746.
