Obituary

Howard Stewart Moore beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, left our company peacefully on October 8th, at the age of 92.

Howard was born in New Brunswick, Canada to Ethel Snow and Dow Moore, then grew up and attended school in Lawrence, MA. He met his wife Shirley Dawn Hoffman through the Christian Endeavor Union Radio Choir which was heard each Sunday morning over a radio station in the Merrimack Valley. They married and resided in southern NH.

Howard enlisted in the US Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He worked at Essem Packing in Lawrence, MA as a maintenance engineer for over 35 years and was a member of the First Calvary Baptist Church in North Andover. Howard was a dapper man. He was always well dressed, proud of his family and of his home. He had a love for music and danced with everyone, especially every night in the kitchen with his wife. He was a creative and talented “Mr. Fix It” and was also very active with skiing, swimming, golfing and playing cards with family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley.

Howard is survived by 2 children and their spouses: Son, Dr. Richard Moore and wife Karen in Dover NH; and Daughter, Nancy and husband Jeff Schulte of Salem, NH. He leaves three grandchildren: Tyler, Trevor and Elizabeth, 4 great-grandchildren and is also survived by one brother; Charles and wife Jessica Moore of Salem NH, sister-in-law Ruth Moore of Methuen MA and brother-in-law James Taylor of Methuen MA.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 9:30am to 11am at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH. The Funeral Service will follow at the Funeral Home at 11am. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
