Samuel Dewey Brown, 77, of Rochelle, Georgia, died Thursday, October 9, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 4:30 PM, Sunday, October 12, 2014, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Rochelle (Owensboro), Georgia with the Rev. James Faircloth officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, from 5 to 7, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Brown was born October 4, 1937, in Rochelle (Owensboro), Georgia, to the late Elbert Dewey and Minnie Lou Young Brown. He attended Rochelle High School and later received an engineering degree from Southern Tech in Marietta, a bachelor of business administration degree from Georgia Southwestern in Americus, and he also attended Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. He lived in the community most of his life and was a peanut farmer. Mr. Brown served in the United States Marine Corp, Force Recon, and he was also a Mason. Mr. Brown was a member of Abbeville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his children: Karen and Randall McMinn of Pickens, South Carolina, Matt Brown of Rochelle, and Becky and Curt Fudge of Gainesville, Florida; grandchildren: Rodney McMinn, Camilla McMinn, Daniel Fudge, James Fudge, and Maddie Fudge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
