Alfred J. Belanger, Jr., 83, of Leicester died Monday, October 6th at home with his family by his side. His wife of 34 years, Margaret (Williams) Belanger died in 1987. He leaves three sons, Alfred J. Belanger, III and his wife, Annette of Leicester, Jeffrey Belanger and his wife, Christine of Worcester and Stephen Belanger of Charlton; two daughters, Patricia Saad and her husband, Joseph of North Oxford and Christine Curtis and her husband, Michael of Leicester. Pepere also leaves his nine grandchildren who he adored and loved, Bryonny, Jason, David, Nicole, Sarah, TJ, Daniel, Kelly and Alicia; four great grandchildren, James, Carter, Jonathan and Jason; many nieces and nephews as well as extended family in England. He was predeceased by three brothers, Raymond, Norman and Robert Belanger; and six sisters, Ora, Ann, Claire, Theresa, Dolores and Lorraine.
He was born in Worcester the son of Alfred J. and Hilda (Miron) Belanger. Alfred was a veteran of the United States Air Force servicing during the Korean War. While serving in England Alfred met his wife, Margaret. They got married in England and made their home in Leicester. He worked at Worcester Wire for over 20 years as a steel worker, retiring in 1981. He also worked along the side of his brother at Brockway Trucking. Alfred was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and a past member of the American Legion Post 443, Cherry Valley. He was a hard worker who was devoted to his family. He enjoyed following college football and the Patriots and the Red Sox.
His funeral is Saturday, October 11th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 759 Main Street, Leicester. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, October 10th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
