Ethel Roberts Christian, 96, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at Fitzgerald Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 4, 2004, at Brushy Creek Cemetery, Irwin County, with Rev. Godfrey O’Rear and Dr. Tom Mann officiating.
Mrs. Christian was born August 21, 1908, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Richard and Lucy Henderson Roberts. She had lived in the community since the 1970s. She was a former resident of Springfield, Illinois and Springfield, Missouri. Mrs. Christian was a homemaker and caregiver, many times moving in with people which allowed them to live in their own homes throughout their illness. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Christian is survived by one sister: Edna Roberts Barfield of North Augusta, SC; sister-in-law: Nadine Roberts of Lakeland; nieces and nephews: JoAnn Stripling of Jackson, SC, Lucy Whiddon of Savannah, Larry Barfield of Ocilla, Gail Ross and Kay Morris, both of Fitzgerald, Stephanie Roberts of Nashville, David DeBerry and Gerald Satterfield, both of Ocilla, Rick DeBerry of Macon, and Jimmy Roberts of Alapaha; and faithful friend for many years: Barbara Worthington of Fitzgerald. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Christian, two sisters, and two brothers.
