NAPLES, FL: Ruth S. (Brown) Camuso, age 87, a resident of Tewksbury for 50 years, died Sunday, November 28, 2004 in Naples, FL.
She was the widow of Vincent M. Camuso, who died November 14, 1994.
Born in Revere, MA on May 4, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Annie (Cameron) Brown.
Mrs. Camuso was raised in Revere, attended Revere schools and was graduated from Revere High School in 1935.
Following graduation, she was employed by the former American Thread Company of Boston. In 1947, she formed a partnership with her late husband and her late sister and brother-in-law; Evelyn C. and Gilbert E. Bernard to found Crystal Greenhouses of Wakefield. In 1952, she and her family moved their greenhouse business to Tewksbury, where they specialized in the growing of carnations and later household plants.
In earlier years, she attended the Tewksbury Congregational Church.
Mrs. Camuso moved to Bonita Springs, FL in 2001.
She was an accomplished seamstress, tatter and gardner.
She is survived by 8 nieces; Anne E. Bernard with whom she resided of Bonita Springs, FL and Old Orchard Beach, ME, Audrey B. Trull and her husband H. Bailey Trull, Jr. of Tewksbury, Betty Flanagan and her husband John of Atkinson, NH, Barbara Watson and her husband James of Sierra Madre, CA, Lorraine Siecarski and her husband John of Revere, Eileen McGranahan and her husband Dean of Wilbraham, Linda Aloisi and her husband Dominic of Uxbridge and Diane Scenna and her husband Pat of Northbridge; 5 nephews; Edward G. Bernard and his wife Deborah of Knoxville, TN, Edward Brown of St. Louis, MO, Steve Camuso and his wife Linda of Lynnfield, John Anthony “Tony” McKeon and his wife Lois of Long Beach, CA and Albert Brown of Chelsea; 28 great nieces and nephews and numerous great great nieces and nephews; 2 sisters-in-law; Ann Margaret “Marge” Camuso of Peabody and Marguerite “Midge” Camuso of Westboro.
Mrs. Camuso was the sister of the late Evelyn Bernard, Alice Morrison, Gertrude Sullivan, Minnie Gagnon, Albert, James, Roy and Wesley Brown and Lawrence Cleasby and sister-in-law of the late Gilbert Bernard, Alice Camuso, Cynthia McKeon, Walter and Anthony Camuso.
Calling hours Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, 9470 Health Park Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908
