
Philip P. “Phil” Murphy of Natick Massachusetts, formerly of Brookline Massachusetts passed away a day before his seventy-eighth birthday, Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Metrowest Medical Center of Natick.
Born in Brookline on September 30, 1936, he was the son of the late Philip P. and Alice G. (Welch) Murphy. He was raised in Brookline, attended Boston College and one of his favorite hobbies was to dabble in electronic inventions.
Phil worked for many years as an Engineer at companies including Raytheon, RCA, Sanborn, Hewlett Packard and Analog Devices. He was very involved in politics in Natick and projects involved with the old East School in Natick.
He was always a big baseball fan, loved the Boston Red Sox and coached farm league and little league in Natick. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters and family and enjoyed visiting Lake Ossipee and the Cape in the summer months. He was a resident of Natick for forty-six years, attended St. Patrick’s Church, a town meeting member and worked part-time at Town Line Liquors.
Phil was the loving husband of Judith L. (McGuire) Murphy of Natick with whom he shared fifty-six years of marriage. He was the beloved and devoted father of Glenn J. Murphy and his wife Donna M. of Medway and Gregg P. Murphy and his wife Donna A. of Natick. Dear grandfather of Paige G. Murphy of Medway and Hailey M. Murphy of Natick.
Caring brother of Phyllis Adams and her husband John of Natick and the late Alice Jenkins and her husband Charles of Westover, Maryland. Brother-in-law of Lois Mahony and her late husband Robert Mahony of Dennis, MA. Also survived by many nephews and nieces.
Funeral Service in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., at Natick Common on Friday, October 3rd at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
Visiting hours Thursday, October 2nd from 4:00-7:00PM. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery, Natick.
