Obituary

CHICOPEE – Eleanor M. (Robbins) Scoles, 90, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, September 28, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on September 5, 1924, a beloved daughter of the late John Newman Robbins and Ethel Mildred (Collins) Robbins. As the wife of a career Air Force veteran, she traveled with her late husband, Eugene, to many of his duty assignments. His last assignment brought them to Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee where they purchased their home in 1963 in the Fairview section of Chicopee. Eleanor was a Retail Operations Clerk for 20 years at the Army and Air Force Exchange at Westover Air Reserve Base, from which she retired in 1986. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in West Springfield. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 Eugene A. Scoles who was Called Home on September 18, 1997; her loving son, Stanley J. Scoles who was Called Home on June 16, 1997; her loving daughter, Irish G. Coss; and her loving sister, Mildred Dattolli. She leaves her devoted sons, Steven R. Scoles and his wife, Shahin, of San Diego, CA, Stewart M. Scoles and his wife, Judy, and Spencer R. Scoles of Chicopee; her five cherished grandchildren, Heather DiMauro and her husband, Marc, Sean Scoles and his wife, Kate, Michael Coss, Lisa LeDoux and her husband, Daryl, and Jennifer Lamoureux; her six cherished great-grandchildren, Hannah DiMauro, Travis Coss, Brandan and Dominic LeDoux, and Gavin and Emily Makidon; her loving sister, Rhoda Ness of York, PA; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Scoles and Robbins families. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker Street, Springfield, MA 01129 in the Oak Garden of Bronze section.
