Obituary

John F. "Jack" McHale, a 50 year resident of Beverly and formerly of Melrose, entered into eternal life unexpectedly on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Beverly Hospital. He was 74 years old.

Jack was born in Stoneham on July 10, 1940, a son of the late Francis S. McHale and Muriel C. (Hill) McHale. He grew up in Melrose where he was educated in the Melrose Public School system and graduated from Melrose High School in 1958. Jack worked for Hood Milk Company as a milkman for several years and also as a machinist at General Electric Company for several years. Jack began working alongside his brother Fred as a flooring contractor with McHale Tile and Carpeting Company until his retirement. Jack was a dedicated family man but his passion in life was the Elks Association. He was a longtime member and a 1974 Exalted Ruler for the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge # 1031 in Melrose. He was a two time District Deputy in 1995 and 1997 for the Massachusetts Elks Association and past State President from 2004 to 2005 for the Massachusetts Elks Association. Jack also dedicated much of his time to the various committees and fund raising activities associated with the Elks on a national level and state level. He was a charter member of Lakeshore Park in Gilford, New Hampshire. Jack enjoyed boating, skiing and dancing.

Jack is the beloved husband of 47 years to Ginger (Bontorno) McHale. He is the devoted father of Richard A. McHale and his wife Brenda of Seabrook, New Hampshire, Lisa Marie McHale of Saugus and John Brian McHale of Saugus. He is the loving brother of Fred McHale of Melrose, Muriel Campbell of Wakefield and Anne Marie McLean of Medford. He is also survived by grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jack's Funeral on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 9 A.M. From The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by his Funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10 A.M. Burial will be at St. Mary of the Annunciation Cemetery in Danvers. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 3 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
