
Allie Railey Mixon, 86, of Ocilla, Georgia died Friday, September 26, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, September 28, 2014, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla, with the Rev. Steve Hand officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Paron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien County, Georgia. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Mixon was born March 20, 1928, in Alapaha, Georgia to the late Zack Silas and Mamie Metts Railey. A former resident of Alapaha, she had lived in the community for 64 years. Mrs. Mixon was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening and growing flowers. Her favorite activity was raising and tending hogs of which she had over 150 to manage at one time. Mrs. Mixon was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Teddy & Rhonda Mixon of Ocilla; a daughter and son-in-law: Barbara & Lonnie Tyler of Tifton; three grandchildren: Lori T. & James Fillyaw, Lisa M. & Paul Smith and Alan Mixon; three great-grandchildren: Sarah Fillyaw, Lucas Fillyaw and Mason Smith; two sisters: Sarah Railey Brogdon of Alapaha and Mamie Railey Gaskins of Alapaha. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: James William “J. W.” Mixon; a sister: Rosa R. Miller and a brother: Willie Railey.
