LOWELL – Robert H. Mahoney Jr., age 65, a Vietnam War Veteran, died Friday, September 26, at the E.N. Rogers V.A. Hospital in Bedford, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Woburn, August 16, 1949, the son of the late Robert and Rita (Warren) Mahoney. He was raised in Woburn and enlisted into the US Army during the Vietnam War. He earned several service commendations along with the Purple Heart Medal.
He worked in the automobile repair business for many years, and also worked for Harvey Industries, Manchester Division.
He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Mahoney-Bean and her husband Randy of Nashua, NH, formerly of Tewksbury; two grandchildren, Lilianna Bean and Riley Bean; a sister, Judith “Judy” MacDonald of Woburn; his former wife Donna J. (Leach) Balestrier of Tewksbury; several nieces nephews, and cousins.
Committal Prayers and Army Honors were held Saturday, October 4, in the Veterans Lot at Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorial gifts to the EN Rogers VA Hospital, Activities Fund, 200 Springs Rd., Bedford, MA 01730 will be appreciated.
