Marjorie Louise (Pratt) Seaquist, 76, of Whitman died on September 25, 2014 after a battle with diabetes and heart disease. She was the wife of Roger J. Seaquist and the former wife of the late Norman E. Lombard.
Born May 21, 1938 in Weymouth, MA she was the daughter of the late Louie E. Pratt and the late Grace E. (Price) Pratt, Gudnosky.
She was raised and educated in Holbrook, and moved to Whitman in 1964. Mrs. Seaquist drove school bus for the Whitman Public Schools through Carey’s Transportation for 6 years.
She attended Wheelock College in Cambridge and became Lead teacher for Self-Help, Inc. (HeadStart) program for many years. She later went back to college at Massasoit CC and the Urban College of Boston to become a Social Service Worker, for Self Help, Inc. She retired in 2004 due to health issues after 30 years of service. She received an award from The Community Services of Greater Brockton for “Excellence in Human Service.”
Mrs. Seaquist enjoyed wallpapering, making cakes for friends and family including wedding cakes and all occasion cakes, flower arrangements for weddings and other occasions, sewing, cooking, childcare for many friends and family, and taking care of the elderly.
She was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Ladies Auxilliary Unit 66, The General Society of Mayflower Descendants of Plymouth, MA and is an 11th generation direct descendant. She was also, a member of The National Arbor Day Foundation, The Humane Society of the United States, AARP, and National Health and Wellness Club.
Mrs. Seaquist is survived by her husband, her children; Susan Lee (Lombard) Guerchon of Amherst, Judith Ann (Lombard) Yanchuk of Plympton, David James Lombard of Halifax, Maryellen (Lombard) Folsom of Hanson, and Duane Alan Seaquist of Whitman; two sisters Dorothy (Pratt) Fitzgerald of Seabrook, N.H., Lelia (Pratt) Rose of Norfolk, Virginia, and a brother William L. Pratt of Holbrook; 10 grandchildren and her late grandsons David Paul Folsom, Jeffrey J. Priore-Seaquist and Eric James Folsom; 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, cousins, and very dear friends.
Her funeral service will be held Sunday September 28 at 5 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will be at a later date in the Lakenham Cemetery, Carver. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 2-5 PM.
