Joseph B. Souza, Jr., 86, of Westport died Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Catholic Memorial Home. He was the husband of Rose Marie (Silvia) Souza.
Born in Fall River, he was son of the late Joseph B. Souza, Sr. and the late Florence (Rego) Souza, he was a lifelong resident of Westport. A veteran of WWII, he served his country in the United States Navy. Mr. Souza was a Communicant of St. George Church, Westport. Prior to retirement, he was a truck driver for the Town of Westport. He was a NASCAR fan and he enjoyed going to his family farm.
Including his wife, survivors include: 2 sons: Joseph B. Souza III and his wife Sharen of Warwick, RI and James B. Souza and his wife Kathy of Dartmouth; 2 brothers: Mike B. Souza of Sarasota, FL and Paul B. Souza of Oklahoma City, OK; 3 sisters: Leontina B. Souza of St. Cloud, FL, Gloria B. Chandler of Charleston, WV and Helen B. Nunes of Fall River; 4 grandchildren: Jamie, Joseph IV, Kara and Erika; 2 great grandchildren: Bradyn and Jack; and several nieces and nephews.
He was brother of the late John B. Souza.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, September 29, 2014 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Sunday 4 - 7 P.M.
Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Westport.
