Dr. John Libby Campbell, Jr., 74, of Tifton died Thursday, September 25, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A memorial service for Dr. Campbell will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2014, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Sallie Kinard officiating. Dr. Campbell will be laid to rest at a later date.
Dr. Campbell was born on October 20, 1939 in Webb, Mississippi and was the son of John Libby Campbell, Sr. and Lois Jane Fuller Campbell, both deceased. He was a retired English professor at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton and was a member of Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church in Tifton. He was a life-long, avid model airplane builder and flyer.
Dr. Campbell is survived by his wife, Jane Walker Campbell of Tifton; one son, Anderson Sharkey Campbell of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Lady Jane and Yancy Gillespie of Birmingham, Alabama; a niece and her husband, Seghers and Trey Pickard and their children, Jackson and Campbell.
