EUGENIA (CHRISKOU) GIANIBAS, age 94, of Hull, died on Monday, Nov. 29th at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after a brief illness. Mrs. Gianibas was born in Gargaliani, Greece and came to this country at the age of 19. She lived in Boston before moving to Hull over 60 years ago. She was a founding member of the Panagia Greek Orthodox Church in Cohasset and was a member of its Philoptochos Society. Mrs. Gianibas received and award for her service to the church from the Greater Boston Archdiocese. She was noted for her cooking, love of flowers and assisting her son Paul Gianibas in his catering business, 'Chef Paul's of Hull'.
Wife of the late Nicholas P. Gianibas, she leaves her daughter, Maria Brountas of Bangor, Maine and son, Paul N. Gianibas of Hull. She was also the mother of the late Peter Gianibas. Mrs. Gianibas was the grandmother of Penny Rees of Brewer, Maine, Jeannie Brountas of Brookline, Peter Brountas of Bangor, Maine, Lisa Harrigan, Theresa McDonald and Nicholas Gianibas all of Hull. Also survived by 14 great grandchildren, her daughter-in-law, Margaret Gianibas of Hull and family members in Greece.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday, Dec. 3rd at 11 AM at the Panagia Greek Orthodox Church, 811 Jerusalem Rd., Cohasset, MA 02025.
Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Thursday from 4-8 PM. A prayer service will be conducted at the Downing Chapel by Father John Maheras on Thursday evening at 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Building Fund of the Panagia Greek Orthodox Church.
The Interment will be in the Hull Village Cemetery.
