TAUNTON - Hazel (Freitas) Silveira, beloved wife of Anthony Silveira of Taunton, passed peacefully surrounded by her family at Morton Hospital on Sept. 21, 2014.
She was 89.
Born and raised in Taunton, she was a 1943 graduate of Taunton High School.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Silveira had been employed as a bookkeeper and secretary by several area businesses, including Mt. Hope Machinery, the former Robertson Curtain Factory, the YMCA and the Greater Taunton Day Care Center.
She was a communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Church and a member and past treasurer of the VFW Post 611.
In addition to her husband, she leaves three sons, Ron W. Silveira and his wife Petey of Longwood, FL, David A. Silveira and his wife Debra of Somerset, and Paul J. Silveira and his wife Michelle of Taunton; two daughters, Toni J. Salter and her husband Ash of Ramstein Air Base, Germany and Carol A. LaCourse and her husband Tony of East Taunton; her cousin, Evelyn Enos and her husband Ernest; twenty grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Arthur DeFreitas.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, Sept. 25th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Sept. 24th from 5 to 8 p.m.
