Obituary

Irene T. Piti, 81, died Sunday, September 21, 2014, in the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late Henry S. Piti, who predeceased her in 1990. They had been married for 33 years.

Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (McVeigh) Quinn, she had lived in Smithfield since 1970. She was an inspector at Uvex until her retirement in 1999. She was a member of the Smithfield Senior Center and Ireland’s 32 Society.

She is survived by her 5 children, Michael Piti and his wife Christy of Omaha, NE, Lynda McCoy of Pawtucket, Karen Gardner and her husband David of Cumberland, David Piti and his wife Meredith of Greenville and Stephen Piti and his wife Dena of Smithfield; also survived by 6 grandchildren, Collin and Caleb Piti of Omaha, NE, Barry McCoy of Pawtucket, and Emma, Madison and Joshua Piti of Greenville. She was the sister of Isabel Foss of Pawtucket, and the late Rita Boyles and John Quinn. She also leaves a large extended family and many close friends.



She was most proud of her family and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed attending their sporting events. She also enjoyed the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, New England Patriots and all college sports.

Her funeral will be held Friday at 8:30 am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 4-7pm.
