Weston: Richard J. “Rick” Butcher, 68, died peacefully and comfortably on Tuesday morning, September 16, 2014 at Emerson Hospital in Concord following a period of declining health.
He was born in Newton on March 26, 1946 the son of Hilda (Crouse) Butcher of Weston and the late Irvin J. Butcher.
Besides his mother, Rick is survived by his brother Ronald B. Butcher and his wife Kristine L. Butcher of Keene, NH. Uncle of Jon McHenry and his wife Lisa McHenry and their children Kaitlyn and Madison all of Aldie, VA; Kimberly A. Butcher-Pope and her children Nicholas, Emma and Dylan all of Des Moines, IO and Alexis A. Morton and her husband Scott Morton and their children Megan and Theo all of Bedford, NH. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Rick has been a lifelong resident of Weston and graduated from Weston High School with the Class of 1963 where he excelled in sports especially football. He attended the University of Wisconsin at Platteville where he also played college football. He served his country with honor during the Vietnam War with the United States Marine Corps and has also been proud of being able to serve his country. He was the founder and owner of R. J. Construction of Weston.
Rick enjoyed motorcycles, body building in his earlier years and was an avid Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed music and played the guitar with several local bands and his group of friends.
He was devoted to his family and especially enjoyed the time spent with them as well as caring for his mother Hilda. Rick will be remembered for his kindness to everyone that he met in his life.
Memorial Visitations will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 from6:00 to 8:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Private family interment will take place in the Butcher lot in Linwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, his family suggests that memorial gifts in Rick’s memory mat be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project, POB 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
