Frederick C. Ferren
...Harvard University chef, Veteran of WWII, active at Billerica C.C.; 88
BILLERICA - Frederick C. Ferren, age 88, a well known member of the staff at the Billerica
Country Club, died Monday, Nov. 29, at his Billerica home after an extended illness. He was the
husband of Christena M. (MacDonald-Stuart) Ferren, who died on September 25th, and earlier,
Dorothy (Mason) Ferren who died in 1969.
He was born in Maine, July 24, 1916, a son of the late Jennie and William Ferren. He had lived in
Billerica the greater part of his life.
During WWII, he served in the U.S. Army, assigned to North Africa.
Prior to retirement, he worked as a chef at Harvard University for more than 35 years. Since
retirement, he had worked in many capacities at his brother’s golf course. He was an
accomplished golfer.
He was also a member of the Billerica Lodge A.F. & A.M.
He is survived by his step-son, James Santos of Billerica; a brother george ferren of N.H.; a half
sister, Helen Ronanski of FL; and many grand and great grandchildren.
Following his cremation, a Memorial Service was held Saturday, Dec. 4, in the
funeral home. Interment was in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. Memorials to the Merrimack Valley
Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843 will be appreciated.
