TEWKSBURY: Marie G. (Parsons) Watson, age 92, a resident of Tewksbury for 89 years and a longtime member of the Lawrence Street Methodist Church of Lowell, died Sunday, November 28, 2004 at the Willow Manor in Lowell.
She was the widow of Thomas E. Watson who died December 31, 1963.
Born in Rockford, Illinois on February 15, 1912, she was the daughter of the late A. Judson Parsons and Mary (Hunter) Parsons.
Mrs. Watson resided in Tewksbury since she was 3 years old.
She attended the former West Tewksbury and the Foster Schools. In 1929, she was graduated from Lowell High School. Mrs. Watson worked as an office manager and bookkeeper for the former T.E. Watson Company of Lowell, which was founded by her late husband.
During World War II, she volunteered her time preparing meals for the school lunch program at the Foster School in Tewksbury. In addition, she volunteered as an assistant Girl Scout Leader for Troop 33 of Tewksbury.
Mrs. Watson was a member of the Women’s Christian Circle at the Lawrence Street Methodist Church and the Puritan Chapter # 54 Order of Eastern Star for more than 50 years.
Mrs. Watson was an accomplished painter and artist. In 1948, she received first prize for a painting she displayed at the Whistler House in Lowell.
Mrs. Watson also enjoyed reading and crotchet.
She is survived by 1 daughter; M. Georgia Ruckledge and her husband Thomas R. Ruckledge, Jr. of Tewksbury; 1 son; Thomas E. Watson, Jr. and his wife Adeline (Stanczak) of Hooksett, NH; 5 grandchildren; Thomas E. Watson, III of Hooksett, NH, Brian A. Watson and his wife Sandra of Northfield, NH, Lori-Ann Bolduc and her husband Michael of Northfield, NH, Carol A. Ryan of Tyngsboro and Thomas R. Ruckledge, III of Tewksbury; 6 great grandchildren; Briana Aubert and her husband Allan of Hooksett, NH, Emily Bolduc, Kyle F. Bolduc, Anna Marie Watson and Brian A. Watson, Jr. all of Northfield, NH and Erin Marie Ryan of Tyngsboro; her niece; Barbara St. John of Berlin, MA
Mrs. Watson was the step-sister of the late Madeline Nixon.
Calling hours Wednesday morning from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will follow at funeral home. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Lawrence Street Methodist Church, 1200 Lawrence St., Lowell, MA 01852 are suggested.
