Obituary

WEBSTER - Theresa A. “Terry” (Chmielewicz) Smith, 83, formally of Thompson Road, passed away peacefully at Lanessa Extended Care after a long illness. Her husband of 32 years, Lyndall C. H. Smith, passed in 1987.

She leaves 2 daughters, Jane E. Smith–Bowen and her husband Stan of Irvine, CA and Susan P. Gould and her husband Timothy of Charlton; 2 granddaughters, Olivia and Gwyneth Gould of Charlton and a step-grandson, Johnny Bowen of Laguna Beach, CA; her longtime friend Zosia; and many nieces and nephews.
She was born in Webster, the youngest of the 9 children of John A. and Stephanie M. (Skrzypek) Chmielewicz and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Bartlett High School in 1950 and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Terry worked at Remington Record Pressery Co. in the quality assurance department and then as an IBM key punch operator at the American Optical Company in Southbridge for many years. She was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica.
Terry loved classical music, Tanglewood, reading and gardening. She was an extraordinary mom and wife, her family always came first. She was most proud of all the accomplishments of her daughters, sons-in law, nieces and nephews, and especially her granddaughters – Olivia and Gwyneth Gould.
A graveside service will be held privately. There are no calling hours. Donations in her name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (800)822-6344. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster.
