Obituary

SPENCER: Gloria (Mannie) Buckley, 91, originally of Sturbridge, MA died Thursday, August 28th at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield after a brief illness.



She leaves behind her niece and Goddaughter, Roberta (Gatineau) Barbour of Astoria, OR, niece Wren Gatineau of Astoria, OR and nephew, Paul Gatineau and his wife Debbie Hand Gatineau of Oregon City, OR. She also leaves behind six grandnieces and nephews: Ramona, Ellen, Jesse, Matthew, Larisa and Chelsea, and ten great-grandnieces and nephews: Simon, Skylar, Serenity, Josephine, Gabriel, Amethyst, Aurora, Aiden, Drake and James. In addition, she leaves behind sister-in-law Georgette Gatineau of Mashpee, MA. She was predeceased by her husband John Buckley of Spencer, MA in 1973. She was also predeceased by her sister and only sibling, Paula Gatineau, on March 5th, 2014.



Gloria worked for many years at Klevin Shoes in North Brookfield as a switchboard operator and finished her career at Kadant Web Systems in Auburn. She worked there as a receptionist for sixteen years before retiring in 1988.



As a longtime resident of Spencer at Stiles Lake Reservoir, Gloria enjoyed the outdoors and for many years counted rock gardening as one of her favorite activities. She loved animals and there was always a lucky cat or dog by her side. Roberta, Paul and Wren have special memories of spending their summers growing up with their Aunt Gloria at the lake. Later on, they were able to share that joy with their own children when coming to visit.





A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 12th at 11:00 am in the J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terrace, Spencer. Burial will follow in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. There are no calling hours.
