CHICOPEE – Nicholas C. McCullough, 16, one of God’s Special Kids of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, September 5, 2014. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Springfield on May 10, 1998, a beloved son of Jacqueline L. Bail and Charles G. McCullough, Jr., both of Chicopee. Nicholas received his early education by attending Litwin, Streiber and Bellamy Schools in Chicopee. Nicholas, as he preferred to be called by his family and friends, was currently a junior at Chicopee Comprehensive High School where he was a member of the Best Buddies Program. Nicholas had an amazing left hand swing and played baseball for the Sunshine Challenger Eagles at Sunshine Village in Chicopee. Passionate about baseball, he was a die hard Boston Red Sox fan and was always ready to watch them play ball. He loved to head into Boston to attend a game and ride the “Purple T” into the city. As an active kid, Nicholas loved to watch “Planes with Letters in the Sky,” loved to play Go Fish and Sorry, spent countless hours playing with the hundreds of match box cars and creating traffic jams with them in his home. He truly enjoyed the movie “Smokey and the Bandit” with the 1977 T-Top Trans Am. Nicholas was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Fairview where he made his First Holy Communion. Besides his loving parents, he leaves his loving sister, Sabrina Bail McCullough of Chicopee; his loving maternal grandmother, Mary Ann Bail of Chicopee; his loving paternal grandfather, Charles G. McCullough, Sr. of Rutland, VT; his cherished aunts and uncles, his aunt and godmother Rebecca Bail McGrath and her husband, Edward, of Wilmington, MA, Alicia M. Hardy and her husband, Daniel, of Housatonic, MA, and Lisa Ann McCullough of Rutland, VT; and many cherished grand uncles, grand aunts, numerous cousins, countless friends and extended members of the McCullough, Bail, McCool and Krajewski families. Nicholas was predeceased by his loving maternal grandfather, Norman R. Bail who was Called Home on March 16, 2014; his loving paternal grandmother, Joan Ann (Krajewski) McCullough who was Called Home on March 6, 2007; and his cherished uncle and godfather, David M. McCullough who was Called Home on November 19, 2006. His funeral will be held on Saturday morning, September 13, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will be private for his family at a later date at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 12, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
