Son of the late Stephen and Cenie (Miller) Benton. Dear brother of Ossie Benton, Andrew Benton, Viola Hollace, Maggie Pearson, Cenie Scarsborough all of Virginia and the late Shirley Benton, Harold Benton, Vernal Green and Addie Mae Reid. Also lovingly survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Born in Deep Creek, Virginia and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia, Stephen, at 84 years of age, passed away Saturday afternoon at the Vetrans Administration Hospital in West Roxbury after a long illness. A Navy veteran of World War II after serving his country he worked for the United States Government Charlestown Navy Yard and after it's closing at the Chelsea Naval Hospital, from which he retired.
