Sara E. Cone, 73, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Saturday, September 6, 2014, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, September 11, 2014, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Cole officiating. Interment will follow in the Fitzgerald Family Cemetery, Wilcox County. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Ms. Cone was born October 19, 1940, in Ben Hill County, Georgia to the late Seaborn Jackson & Bessie Kinchen Cone. She received an Associates degree in Nursing from South Georgia College. She worked as an agency Registered Nurse and staffed emergency rooms and intensive care units throughout south Georgia. She was an excellent nurse who dearly loved ministering to her patients. She was a researcher of family and community genealogy. An avid animal lover, she enjoyed spending time with her dog, Molly and her cats, Lucy & Jigs. She was a member of Fitzgerald Full Gospel Church.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Terry & Linda Sue Cole of Abbeville, Sharon & Ellis Stanfill, Jr. of Fitzgerald, Barbara & Robert Garrett of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Bart & Marie O’Neil of Warner Robins; her grandchildren: Marybeth & Eric Hart of Fitzgerald, T.J. & Michelle Cole of Savannah, J.B. Cole and Megan Cole, both of Abbeville, Jennifer Brinson of Rincon, Jim & Katie Redden and Wesley O’Neil, all of Fitzgerald, William & Stacy Dove of Anna, Texas, Rebecca Dove of Clearwater, Florida, Casey O’Neil of Ocilla, Krista O’Neil of Brookfield, and Katie O’Neil of Warner Robins; great-grandchildren: Rocco, Jozelyn, Luke, Saralynn, Eli, Noah, Austin, William Michael, Jason, Connor, Kayla, Landon, Jaime, Drake, Jordan, Anna, Jasey, Diamond, and Tamara; and two brothers: Jack Cone of Fitzgerald and John & Janine Cone of Fountain Green, Utah. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother: Ronald Lamar Cone and a sister-in-law: Gail Cone.
