WORCESTER-Patrick B. Fitzgerald 96 of June Street died Tuesday October 30th in his home after an illness. He leaves his wife Helen T. (Walsh) Fitzgerald; 4 daughters Kathleen T. Keville of Shrewsbury, Patricia A. Gibbons and Helen M. Fitzgerald both of Worcester and Paula A. Murtaugh of Winnetka, IL; 2 sisters Alice Hennessy of Cork City, Ireland and Nora Power of Dungarvan, Ireland; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A son Thomas F. Fitzgerald and a daughter Ann Marie Daly both pre-deceased him.
He was born in County Waterford, Ireland the son of Thomas and Alice (Kett) Fitzgerald and emigrated to Worcester in 1926. He had been employed for over 40 years at the Rex Nord Company retiring in 1970. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church and served as a sexton there for many years. Mr. Fitzgerald was also active in the St. Peter’s Men’s Club and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Alhambra Council.
The funeral will be Friday November 2nd from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue with a mass at 10:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday November 1st from 4:00 until 8:00 PM.
