BURLING - Nicole Burling, 9, of Fernandina Beach passed away Monday, September 1, 2014.
She was born May 17, 2005 in Jacksonville, FL and was otherwise a life-long resident of Fernandina Beach. She was in the third grade at Emma Love Hardee Elementary School with Ms. April Davis as her teacher. Nicole was a member of the Little Pirates Cheer Squad and the Beach Elite Cheer Team. She was a huge Florida State fan and loved the Seminoles. She loved animals and wanted to be a veterinarian when she grew up. She also loved the outdoors, the beach - she just loved life. She had a loving heart and made friends easily.
Nicole is survived by her loving parents, D. J. and Lori Burling of Fernandina Beach, FL; her sister, Jade Burling, also of Fernandina Beach; her grandparents, Joe E. Harkey & Hector Ledezma of McAllen, TX, Nancy Burling of Jacksonville, FL and Bev Wallace of McAllen, TX; two aunts, Kim Velazquez of Earlsboro, OK, Cindy Rushforth of Jacksonville, FL; a cousin, Mandie Rushforth of New Orleans, LA; and many, many, many friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, at the Journey Church with Pastors, Darryl Bellar and Van Power officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Green Pine Funeral Home.
The color pink was Nicole's favorite color. For those who would participate, wear something pink for Nicole to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests making memorial donations to the Nicole Burling Memorial Fund at any First Coast Community Bank.
