Manchester– Hubert J. Sweeney, 83, died September 1, 2014 at his home following a brief illness.
He was born in Claremont on February 17, 1931 the son of Simeon J. and Emma (Marquis) Sweeney and had been a long time resident of Manchester.
He had been a Sr. Master Sergeant in the Air National Guard.
He was a parishioner of Parish of the Transfiguration, and held membership in Sam’s Club Camping Club and Freedom Campers.
He loved his family, reading, history and his grandchildren were his world.
Members of his family include his wife of 56 years, Pauline (Soucy) Sweeney of Manchester, four children, Anne-Marie E. Kenyon and her husband John of Auburn, Richard C. Sweeney and his wife Diane of Weare, Vivian C. Beadle and her husband Michael of Bristol, Patricia J. Carignan and her husband Robert of Bow.
He also leaves 15 grandchildren Robert Kenyon, John Kenyon, Christopher Kenyon, Kristenann Kenyon, Emily Sweeney, Tyler Sweeney, Nathan Sweeney, Michelle Beadle, Sarah Beadle, Joshua Beadle, Elizabeth Beadle, Peter Beadle, William Beadle, Mathew Carignan and his wife Tara, Timothy Carignan, one great grandchild Steven Andino Jr., and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a grandson Joseph R. Beadle in 1991, and 2 sisters, Madeleine Sweeney and Claire Durette.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 4 to 7 PM at J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St. Manchester NH 03101.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM in Parish of the Transfiguration, Corner of Kelley and Youville Sts.
Burial with military honors will be held on Monday September 8th, 2014 at 2:30 PM in NH Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
