Joseph Conrad "Josie" Fields, 70, of Taunton died Tuesday November 23, 2004 at Morton Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Janet (Rocheteau) Fields of Fairhaven.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Joseph C. and Dorothy (Williams) Fields, he lived in Fairhaven and Taunton for most of his life.
Mr. Fields was formerly employed as a construction worker for the Laborers International Union Local 876 in Taunton until his retirement.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Greg Rocheteau, William Fields, David Fields, and Steven Fields and his wife Misty, all of New Bedford; five daughters, Theresa DaCruz and her husband Julio of Connecticut, Veronica Fields and Darnell Fields, both of New Bedford, Nicole Fields of Woburn, and Letticia Burgo of Taunton; two brothers, James E. Fields and his wife Clara of Colorado and Robert Fields and his wife Sookie Chong of California; two sisters, Shirley Suggs and her husband George of Virginia and Doris Greene and her husband William of Springfield; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Joseph C. Fields, Jr. and Robin Fields.
His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday November 30, 2004 at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Acushnet Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday morning from 9:30-11AM prior to the service.
