Melanie G. Sitar
Beloved wife, mother and grandmother

LACONIA, NH: Melanie (Gober) Sitar, age 55, a former longtime resident of Tewksbury, recently of Laconia, NH, passed away unexpectedly from a spontaneous brain hemorrhage at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH on Friday, August 29, 2014.
She was the beloved wife of retired Tewksbury Fire Department Captain and current Tilton-Northfield Fire & E.M.S. Department Chief, Michael W. Sitar, Jr. , with whom she would have celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary on December 18, 2014.
Born in Cambridgeshire, England on March 29, 1959, Melanie was the daughter of James W. Gober, who survives her of Hampstead, NH and the late Marian (Imlauf) Gober.
Melanie was raised in Billerica, attended Billerica schools and graduated from Billerica Memorial High School in 1977. Following high school, she attended the Lowell General Hospital School of Nursing, where she received her Degree as a Registered Nurse in 1982.
She resided in Tewksbury for 32 years until moving to Laconia, NH in February of this year.
Melanie worked for the Town of Tewksbury for 11 years in the Human Resources Department at the Tewksbury Town Hall.
She volunteered her time to several Tewksbury organizations including St. William's Church, where she assisted with the Teens Encounter Christ Program (TEC), and the Tewksbury Youth Football and Baseball Programs.
In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by two sons, Michael W. Sitar, III and his wife Nicolle of Tewksbury and James D. Sitar and his fiancé Nichole Ryan of Lowell; three grandchildren, Jack Meuse-Sitar of Tewksbury, Deyanna DeJesus and Jayden Ryan both of Lowell; one brother, Dr. James W. Gober, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Sept. 3, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be held Thursday, Sept. 4, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Melanie's memory may be made to the Jimmy Fund, (www.jimmyfund.org), 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445.
