Fred F. Barbetta, a 66 year resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a lengthy illness. He was 94 years old.
Fred was born in Patterson, New Jersey on August 17, 1920, a son of the late Michele Barbetta and Casimira (Suoyska) Barbetta. He grew up in the North End of Boston where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Michaelangelo High School in the North End. He enlisted into the United States Navy on February 22, 1942 and served his country with courage and honor during World War II. He was discharged on November 25, 1946 with the rank of Boatswain's Mate Second Class. Frank worked most of his adult life as a self-employed painter. He enjoyed working with his hands and was an accomplished artist.
Fred is the beloved husband of 66 years to Helen T. (Venezia) Barbetta. He is the devoted father of Frederick Barbetta of Charlestown, Richard Barbetta and his wife Laura of Whitinsville and David Barbetta of Everett. He is the loving Papa to Richard Barbetta, Jill Barbetta and his great-grandson Jaeson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Fred's Graveside Service on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 11 A.M. in Holy Cross Cemetery, 175 Broadway, Malden. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
