Obituary

LEICESTER; Eleanor M. (Wojciechowski) Mekelski, 76, of 4 Virginia Ave., Rochdale, a section of Leicester, died Friday, August 29 at Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester.

She leaves her husband of 53 years, Leonard J. Mekelski, Sr., two sons; Lenny J. Mekelski, Jr. and his wife Grace of Lehigh Acres, FL., Stephen J. Mekelski of Rochdale, a daughter, Stephanie M. Mekelski of Palm Bay, FL., a sister, Christine King of Princeton, 4 grandchildren; James, Jenna and Lauren Riopel, Benjamin Mekelski, a great-grand-daughter, Sophia and several nieces and nephews.

Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Joseph V. & Helen A. (Dolengiewicz) Wojciechowski.

Mrs. Mekelski was a phone operator at New England Telephone & Telegraph for 7 years, retiring in 1961. She also worked as a day care provider for 5 years.

She was a member of St. Aloysius/St. Jude Church, Leicester and its Ladies Guild.

She worked on the committee for Boy Scout Troop 125 in Rochdale. She had a love of family, playing piano, music, dinning out, playing the lottery and spending time with friends as well as traveling.

The Funeral will be held Wednesday, September 3 from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester, with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Aloysius/St. Jude Church, 489 Pleasant St., Leicester.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Leicester. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5-7 PM in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Boy Scout Troop #125 Leicester c/o Boy Scout Mohegan Council, 19 Harvard St., Worcester, MA. 01609.
