Josephine Cirena (Danner) Counceller, 91, Anderson died August 27, 2014 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
Josephine was born a preemie of 2 lbs3 oz. on Feb. 10, 1923 in Gallipolis, Ohio. Her parents were Cirena and Joseph Danner. Cirena died during child birth; therefore, Josephine was raised by her father and stepmother, Magdalene Bostic.
Josephine graduated from Anderson in 1941. She was a homemaker and the widow of the late John Counceller whom she married on March 7, 1942.
Survivors include five children: Richard (Sally) Counceller of Muncie; John (Diana) Counceller of Columbus; Sharon Shear of Anderson; Susan Allen of Fairway, KS and Sheila (Dowe) Carmack of Columbia, TN. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She worked at Fannin's Laundromat in Chesterfield, Sheraton Inn and Community Hospital.
She is a member of Bethany Christian Church; (LOA) Love One Another a Bible study group since high school meeting monthly; and Small Town Garden Club. She enjoyed her family, shopping, traveling, bingo and dominos.
Josephine was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Service is noon September 2, 2014 at Bethany Christian Church with Pastor Bob Bell officiating, with burial in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation from 10 a.m. until the service Tuesday at the church.
Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
