WAYLAND: Josephine C. (Caccavo) Marshall, 88, died peacefully surrounded by those who loved her on Sunday August 24, 2014.
She was born in Arlington on June 28, 1926 the daughter of the late James Caccavo and Maria C. (Casaburi) Caccavo.
She was the beloved wife for 52 years of the late Alton Leslie (Les) Flint Marshall, Jr.
Devoted and caring mother of Marie M. Winter of Wayland; Joanne M. Silvernail and her husband David Silvernail, Jr. of Leesburg, VA; Jean E. Marshall of Waban and the late John E. Marshall. She was the sister of the late Cristina C. Giglio and mother-in-law of the late William W. Winter, Jr. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Josephine has been a resident of Wayland for over 56 years and previously resided in Natick and Arlington. She spent her formative years in Arlington and graduated from ArlingtonHigh School. She received her Associates Degree from Boston University College of Practical Arts and Letters with the Class of 1945. In her earlier years, she was the Administrative Secretary to the Dean of the New England College of Pharmacy where she met her husband Les. For many years, she worked side by side with her husband who was the founder and owner of Marshall’s Apothecary in Wayland. Josephine had a strong and dedicated devotion to her faith and was one of the leaders of the Stephen Ministry at Trinitarian Congregational Church in Wayland. She also served as a Deaconess of the church as well as teaching at Vacation Bible School for many years. She was a member of the Wayland Women’s Club and The ARC of Massachusetts. She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by the many lives that she touched and for all those who benefited from her love of helping others.
Private family interment will be held at the Marshall family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 52 Cochituate Road (Rte 27), Wayland.
