Funeral Service in the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at 10 am. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 11:30 am. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 pm. Obituary
Mr. Shallies died Tuesday at BayPointe Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in Brockton after a brief illness. Born and raised in Holbrook, son of the late Louis and Elsie (Gullans) Shallies. He had been a resident of Brockton for the past 57 years and Mr. Shallies had been a Machinist at Boston Gear works in Quincy for over 30 years, retiring in 1986 and had also been a bartender and cook at Tip Top Café in Brockton for 10 years. During WW II Mr. Shallies served in the US Navy aboard the USS Guam in the Pacific Theater. Life member and past commander of the VFW Post 697 in Whitman. He enjoyed his daily visit to the post.
Survived by his children, Sgt. William F. Shallies of the Rockland, Police Dept; John K. Shallies of Lewisville, Texas; Mary P. Shallies of Manchester, NH; Charles J. “Chuck” Shallies of Rockland and Robert E. Shallies of Brockton, 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, two sisters, Evelyn Shallies and Barbara Batiste both of Braintree and several nieces and nephew.
