Shirley Doris Martin, 67, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014.
She was a native of Kentucky and was born on October 19, 1946, to Aline Marie Frye and the late Harrison Green Martin in Taylor County, KY. Ms. Martin is survived by two daughters, Robin Kincaid of Spokane, Washington and Nichole Murphy of Maineville, Ohio; Her mother, Aline Frye of Louisville, Kentucky; One brother, Ricky Martin, of Louisville, Kentucky; 4 grandchildren, Christian Kincaid, Nadia Kincaid, Johnny Murphy and Lincoln Murphy. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 1 brother: Barbara Puckett, Kathy Herdt and David Martin.
Shirley was a doting grandmother and was affectionately known as “Me-Me” by her grandkids. She came to Spokane, WA in 1998 to visit her first born grandchild and decided to move from Louisville to Spokane the following year. She lived a modest, private life but was always the first to help those in need. She stopped working 4 years ago and was able to enjoy a carefree retired life in Washington during that time.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday August 30th, 2014 at Owen Funeral Home-Jeffersontown located at 9318 Taylorsville Road in Louisville. There will be a 1:00 P.M. visitation for gathering and remembrances with a service to follow at 2:00 P.M.
