Thomas H. Marchand, 74, of Franklin, died August 18 in his home. He was the husband of Maureen A. (Maietta) Marchand and the late Marlene (Clark) Marchand.
Born in Norwood, April 13, 1940, the son of the late Henry and Elsie (Mattson) Marchand, Mr. Marchand was raised in Norwood and had lived in Franklin for the past 50 years.
Mr. Marchand was a bus driver for Holmes Transportation for many years. He had previously worked for the Franklin DPW and Clark, Cutler and McDermott.
Mr. Marchand had been a member of the Franklin Police Auxiliary and the Loyal Order of Redman.
Tom had loved to watch his sons and grandsons play hockey. He also was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots. He enjoyed going to flea markets and visiting the casinos.
For the past 13 years, Tom had played Santa Claus at private parties in the Franklin area. His friendly manner and great white beard made him the perfect Santa.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Thomas Marchand of Franklin, Sandra Marchand of Cranston, RI, William Marchand and his wife Maria of Naples, Florida, James Marchand of Franklin, and David Marchand and is wife Lynn of Franklin. He is also survived by his step-children Michael Bogigian of Berlin and Kerri Bogigian of Franklin.
He was the brother of the late Eric, Kenneth and David Marchand and Judy Johnson. He is also survived by his Aunt Barbara Marchand of Walpole.
He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, August 22 in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street in Franklin at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Union Street Cemetery, Franklin.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
