PLAISTOW, NH: Joan L. (Foss-Seliga-Cote) Mahoney, 81, died Thursday, August 14, 2014 in the Portsmouth Regional Hospital. She was the beloved wife of John L. Mahoney.
Born in Haverhill on September 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Ludivine (Gallant) Foss. She had resided in Haverhill for many years before moving to Plaistow fifty-two years ago.
Joan was employed as a production associate at Western Electric for several years. She had also once worked for several area shoe shops. She loved the outdoors, fishing, gardening, feeding and watching birds and wild animals. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and classical music.
In addition to her husband of forty-seven years, she is survived her two brothers, Alson and Robert Foss; three sisters, Donna Millington and her husband, Walter, Dorothy Aimaro and her husband, Donald and Barbara Brunalt and her husband, Richard; step-daughter, Maureen Matatall and her husband, William; four grandchildren, William, Terence, Kathleen and Thomas Matatall and several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
