Marjorie Lorena Lee Carroll, 85, of Fitzgerald, died Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Heritage Healthcare of Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ben Hill County with the Rev. Greg Carroll and the Rev. Fred Eister officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Carroll was born June 17, 1929, in Bartow County, Georgia, to the late William David & Fannie Lorena Baker Lee. A 1947 graduate of Fitzgerald High School, she received her Bachelors degree in nursing from Georgia Baptist in Atlanta. She was an R.N. at the Medical Arts Building in Fitzgerald for many years and worked for several doctors. She also worked at the Ben Hill County Hospital. She left the medical field to stay at home and raise her children. Mrs. Carroll was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother who loved to sew and do yard work and had a gift for cooking. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a devoted friend to many people because of her willingness to listen when people needed to talk to someone. A longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, she was active in the choir, WMU, and formerly taught Training Union.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: W.H. Carroll, III of Fitzgerald, Andy & Carlese Carroll of Fitzgerald, Brad & Lynn Carroll of Fitzgerald, and Rev, Greg & Lisa Carroll of Hayesville, North Carolina; daughters and sons-in-law: Deborah & Dr. Lee Lallance of Lakeland, Florida and Lorena Dell & Andy Smith of Fitzgerald; eleven grandchildren and their spouses: Deborah Lee Parr, Michael Shealey & Barbie, Leslie & Ricky Clark, Allison & Dan Adams, Andy & Sherry Carroll, Adam Carroll, Laura & Wendell Farmer, Will & Shannon Carroll, Jake & Miriam Carroll, Andrea Lorena Smith, and Madison Smith; her great-grandchildren: Brittany Ashlyn Parr, Reagan Shealey, Riley Shealey, Tyler Carroll, Ashton Sumner, Aubree Dell Clark, Aydan Adams, Cameron Law Carroll, Chandler Farmer, Nash Farmer, Coy Farmer, Isaac Carroll, Noelle Carroll, Katelyn Carroll, and Elizabeth Carroll; a sister: Alice Ash of Fitzgerald; and a brother: Lewis Lee of Tucker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: William Henry Carroll, II, four brothers, and two sisters.
