Obituary

Dolores Ann Slattery "Nannie" was born in Marlboro, Mass., on April 17, 1936. She was the second child of Teresa Mary (DeMalia) and Joseph M Orareo.

It is with our heart-felt sadness that we announce our beautiful mother's passing Aug. 7, 2014, at home, surrounded by the loves of her life—her five children, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Nannie was 78 years old.

She fought a courageous battle with Stage IV cancer for over two-and-a-half years. She truly was the best mother, grandmother and great grandmother in the whole world and devoted her life to her family!

She is survived by her supportive ex-husband and father to her five children, Richard P. Slattery, Sr.

Her kids are Kathleen Surran and husband Bill Surran of Tewksbury, Debra Dawson of Woodbridge, Va.; Richard Slattery Jr., Micheline Slattery of Natick; Patricia Pellegrini of Falmouth, Fiancé, James McDonnell; and Timothy Slattery, who is also of Tewksbury.

Nannie’s grandchildren are Billy Surran of Ludlow, wife Dr. Brooke Surran; Denise Bergeson of Tewksbury, husband Jeremy Bergeson; Kyle Dawson of Dumfries, Va.; and C.J. Dawson, Natick and Khristian Slattery of Natick.

Her great grandchildren are Aiden Surran and Natalie Surran of Ludlow; and Logan Bergeson and Lucy Mary Dolores Bergeson of Tewksbury.

Her siblings are Anne Marie Leanders, Joanne Resteghini, husband Bruno Resteghini of Marlboro and Joseph Orareo, Clinton.

She had a lot of nieces, nephews and cousins. They included Karen, Cameron, and Justin Leandres, Charlene Finan, Jeff Leandres, Caren Ann Bacon, Scottie Finan, Stephanie Orareo, Matthew Resteghini,
Marc Resteghini, Devin Orareo, Julia Resteghini, Jessie Resteghini, Lucia Resteghini and Diane Ohlson.

Nannie grew up in Marlboro and attended St. Michael’s Academy, a private Catholic School in Hudson. She had a very happy childhood where she and her brother Joseph would always get in trouble together!

She worked many years at Framingham Union Hospital in the Executive Doctor's Lounge. She retired from Babson College at Wellesley as an Executive Assistant to the Graduate Admission's Office.

Nannie loved being at her summer cottage in Dennisport with her family. She enjoyed having all her kids, grandkids and great grandkids around her, cooking and making sand castles with them!

Nannie's passion for her kids, grandkids and great grandkids was equal to that of her Dunkin’ Donuts!

Nannie's children are honoring her wishes to be cremated and strewing her ashes over the ocean at Cape Cod.
Her children and siblings will hold a private memorial service for the family at Farmer and Dee Funeral Home.

In honor of Nannie, her children will host a celebration of life open to family members and friends at Hanscom AFB’s Minuteman Commons Ballroom in Lexington from 2-6 p.m. Sept. 6. Please come in through the Vandenberg Gate. Only the driver will need a valid photo identification card.

Special thanks to the following people:

• Private Nurse Mary-Ann Nichols, Nannie's private nurse.
• Eileen Costello for always being there.
• Grampy's Aides: Louis, Doug, Johanna

You are our Guardian Angel! We love you to the Moon and back!

Kathy, Debi, Ricky, Patti and Tim
