Lorraine T. Messina, 81 of Derry, NH died Monday August 11, 2014 at Villa Crest Nursing Home, Manchester, NH. Mrs. Messina was born in W. Roxbury, MA on March 24, 1933, daughter of the late Gerard and Lillian (Levesque) Lavoie. She resided in Derry for 45 years, formerly living in Lawrence and Methuen, MA. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her six children, Nina Dunbar and her husband Scott of Derry NH, Steven Messina and his wife Laura of Bretton Woods, NH, Debra Brien and her husband Michael of Meredith, NH, Samuel Messina and his wife Johanna Zabriskie of Ipswich, MA, Bernard “Joey” Levesque of Belmont, NH, and Lisa Saffie of Windham, NH, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, her brother, with whom she shared a very special bond, Gerard “Junior” Lavoie of Tampa, FL, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Holly Ann Misserville in 1974.
A calling hour was held on Thursday August 14, 2014 from 9:00 – 10:00am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services followed at 10:00am in the funeral home. The burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Londonderry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
