…former Stewardess and Waitress; 75
TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Margaret E. “Marge” (Roy) Carney, age 75, died peacefully, Friday night, August 8, at the D’Youville Center in Lowell, after a courageous and lengthy fight with Cancer. She was the beloved wife of Edward J. Carney, with whom she had celebrated a 53rd wedding anniversary this past April 22nd.
She was born in Washington, Vermont, on September 22, 1938, one of fourteen children of the late Oram and Lydia Roy. She was raised in Vermont, and graduated from the Spaulding High School in Barre, VT. Upon her marriage to Ed, they moved to Tewksbury to raise their family.
She began her work career as a stewardess with United Airlines, where she met her future husband. She interrupted her work career to raise her family, and resumed as a waitress at Rocco’s Restaurant in Wilmington, and later Ralph’s in Haverhill.
Marge was a communicant of St. Dorothy’s Church in Wilmington.
She is survived by five children, Lynn Clifford of Haverhill, Dianne Carney of Lowell, Edward “Ted” Carney Jr., of Lawrence, David Carney and his wife Lisa (MacMillan) of Tyngsboro, Steven Carney and his wife Denise “DeDee” (Duggan) of Wilmington; eight grandchildren, Corinne and Caitlin Clifford of Haverhill, Jared Carney of Billerica, Jacob, Alex, and Zachary Carney all of Tyngsboro, Megan and Danny Carney of Wilmington; her siblings, Bernie Roy of VT, Armand Roy of CT, Donald Roy of FL, Robert Roy, Anita Seguin both of VT, Diane Stevens of FL; numerous nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by her siblings, Delore Roy, Raymond Roy, Victor Roy, Mary Foreman, Edward Roy, Norman Roy, and Roland Roy.
Relatives and friends will be received Wednesday, August 13, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950, followed by a Funeral Mass Wednesday at 12:00 Noon in St. Dorothy’s Church, corner of Harndon and Main Sts. (Rte. 38) Wilmington.
