John J. Carlson, 73, of Worcester, passed away Wednesday, August 6th, surrounded by loving family and friends. His wife of 50 years Nancy A. Carlson died in 2012. He is survived by his only son John J. Carlson, Jr. and his wife Laura Klein of Dublin, Ohio; his sister Margaret McGrath of Westborough; two sisters-in-law, Diane Harrity and Ann Monfreda; his brother-in-law, George La Gorce, Jr.; and many nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces with whom he spent a great amount of time educating them in life experiences. He was predeceased by two brothers, Mark Belezerian and Harold Carlson and two sisters, Carol Duggan and Nancy Dedecho.
John was born in Westchester County, NY and was raised in Worcester where he attended St. Peters. He served “six years before the mast” in the US Navy and was stationed in Great Lakes, IL and Long Beach, CA on the USS Pluck. He was trained in electronics by the Navy and later worked for the David Clark Co. and then VF Sales, as Vice-president of sales for 25 years. His work took him throughout much of the world. John was a true lover of the water and spent as much of his time fishing and boating as possible. He had a great appreciation for the arts and was well versed in gastronomy. John touched the lives of many and his keen wit and humor will be deeply missed.
