Derry - Madalene Louise Cote, Having lived a life filled with laughter and a deep faith, Madalene Louise (Manning) Cote passed away on August 6, 2014. Born on May 12, 1925 in Londonderry, NH, she was a daughter of the late William and Margaret (Bailey) Manning. She was a lifelong resident of Derry until her later years where she moved to Dover and Durham to be closer to family. She was a communicant at St. Thomas Aquinas parish in Derry where she was married and her children were baptized. In her later years, she found much comfort and solace in attending worship services led by Roberta MacBride at Emeritus at Sprucewood in Durham. A graduate of Pinkerton Academy class of 1943, she enjoyed music and athletics, sang with Sweet Adelines and was a candlepin bowling champion. She also enjoyed puzzle making and Wii Bowling while at Sprucewood.
She is predeceased by husband Armand who died on July 29, 1997, brothers Harold Manning, Leo Manning, Frederick Manning and sisters Eleanor Taylor and Frances Mannarini. She is survived by brother Robert Manning and twin sister Margaret Morrison.
She leaves son Bill Cote and wife Cynthia of Durham, daughter Marie Cote and husband Michael Rubin of Boonton, NJ, son Philip Cote and wife Lynne of Newburyport, MA, grandchildren Laura Cote of Dover, Matthew Cote and Margaret Cote of Newburyport, MA, and great-grandchild Braydon Cote Dion of Dover. Madalene also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held at Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 4 - 7pm. A Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 11:30am. Interment will be privately held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family will be planting a memorial tree at Sprucewood and asks that donations be sent in memory of Madalene to Emeritus at Sprucewood, 25 Worthen Rd., Durham, NH. 03824.
