Harold A. Berntsen, 66, of Mountain Rd., Goffstown, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown. He was born in Berlin on April 17, 1935, a son of the late Henry G. and Margaret A. (Murphy) Berntsen Sr. He was a resident of Goffstown for the past two years, formerly living in Derry since 1996 and Chester. He was a US Navy Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He had been employed as a truck driver for St. Regis Paper Co. in Newton, Mass., retiring in 1987. He more recently had been employed as a truck driver for Total Packaging Concepts in Derry. He was a member of the Living Way Church in Londonderry.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary E. (Dyer) Berntsen of Goffstown, four sons, Harold A. Berntsen Jr. of Germany, Christopher H. Berntsen of Nashua, Michael P. Berntsen of Hooksett, Shawn P. Berntsen of Manchester, four daughters, Cathleen M. McElroy of Manchester, Helen Marie A. Richards of Londonderry, Frances M. LeLacheur of Manchester, Ann Marie E. Berntsen of Medford, Mass., 11 grandchildren, one great granddaughter, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 28th at 10:30 at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. The burial will be in the Great Hill Cemetery in Chester in the spring. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 27th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9.
