Ramona M. Pugsley Comrie, of Academy Point, Mystic, formerly of 14 Elm St., Mystic, died Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Pendleton in Mystic where she had been a patient for nine days.
Mrs. Comrie was born Jan. 9, 1927, in Dover, N.H. She was the daughter of RaymonFelker Pugsley and Thelma Berry Pugsley.
The family moved to Groton when Ramona was a young girl. She was a 1944 graduate of Robert E. Fitch High School in Groton. She earned an A.B. degree from Pembroke College in Brown University in 1947 and a B.S. degree from Boston University College of Practical Arts and Letters in 1948.
She was employed at Connecticut College in New London from 1948-58, first in the bursar’s office and then as secretary to the assistant to the president. From 1958 to 1963, she worked as an administrative assistant in the admissions office at Pembroke
College. She returned to Connecticut College in 1963 where she served as secretary to the president of the college until her retirement in 1988.
On June 5, 1988, she married Edward S. Comrie, Sr. at the Union Baptist Church in Mystic. He died Jan. 19, 1999.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Marilyn Comrie, of Mystic, and four stepgrandchildren, Robert Howland of Charlestown, N.H.; Edward Howland of Mystic, Susan Howland of Mystic, and Cynthia Wage of Holyoke, Mass.
Mrs. Comrie was a member of the Union Baptist Church in Mystic.
A Graveside Service will be conducted on Monday, August 11, at 11:00am at Lambtown Cemetery, Lambtown Road in Ledyard. There are no calling hours.
