Amelia T. "Millie" (Czarkowski) Sylvia, 96, of New Bedford died Tuesday August 5, 2014 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Frank B. Sylvia.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Michael and Jadwiga (Michalezyk) Czarkowski, she lived in New Bedford for all of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church in Dartmouth.
Mrs. Sylvia was formerly employed by Mutterpearl Manufacturing and J.I. Paulding Company for many years until her retirement.
She was a former member of Escape to Fitness Health Club, the Country Club of New Bedford, and the Hawthorne Country Club. She was an avid bowler and bingo player who enjoyed her trips to Foxwoods. She attended the Brooklawn Senior Center and the Buttonwood Senior Center.
She is survived by her son, Frank Barry Sylvia and his wife Diane of Medfield; three grandchildren, Allison Gibbons and her husband Michael, Barry B. Sylvia and his wife Mary, and Craig C. Sylvia; six great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Brooke, and Madison Sylvia, and Christopher, Lindsay, and Kelsey Gibbons.
She was the sister of the late Charles Czarkowski, Dorothy Gizzi, Alice Rinfret, Joan Dufresne, Patricia Sheridan, Adeline Levesque, and Stella Gomes.
