Leonel “Leo” Simoes, Jr., passed away on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Catholic Memorial Home, Fall River. He was the husband of Sharon L. (Durkee) Simoes of Fall River to whom he was married for 50 years.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Leo and Eunice (Oliveira) Simoes, he was raised in Tiverton and later moved to Fall River in 1964. Prior to his retirement in 1988, he worked as a boat builder for both Pearson Yachts in Portsmouth and O’Day Boats in Fall River. Mr. Simoes was a communicant of Good Shepherd Parish in Fall River and also served as a collector at the church. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed working on cars. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family and was always willing to lend a hand.
Survivors along with his wife include his 4 sons: Michael L. Simoes of Tiverton, Paul J. Simoes, Scott A. Simoes and Mark S. Simoes, all of Fall River; 3 sisters: Barbara Pineault of TX, Marilyn Chretien of Assonet and Eunice Smith of Fall River; 6 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the twin brother of the late Leonard Simoes.
Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, August 11, 2014 at the Good Shepherd Parish, 1598 S. Main St., Fall River, MA 02724 at 11:00 A.M.
Memorial visitation will be from 10-11 A.M. at the church, prior to the service.
Interment will be private.
