John F. Burrill "JB" Retired Captain of the Pembroke Fire Department, passed away on August 4, 2014. He is survived by his wife Ethel of 42 years . He was the devoted father of Cheryl A. Coombs and her husband Michael of Pembroke and Edwin J. Burrill and his wife Andrea of Pembroke. He was the brother of Donna Stutz of Pembroke and the late Donald Burrill . He was the loving grand father of Kevin, Emily, Torie and Hailey. John was born on May 8, 1949. He grew up in Pembroke and graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1968. He served 4 years in the U.S Navy. John worked for the Town of Pembroke from 1968 to 2006. He started with the Highway Department and became a full time fire fighter in 1975. He was one of the first E.M.T's in the Town of Pembroke and was promoted to Captain in 1994.
John enjoyed antique cars, traveling with his wife, family and friends.
A funeral service will be held Friday August 8, at the Shepherd Funeral Home 7 Mattakeesett St, Pembroke Center at 9:30AM. Internment in Center Cemetery Pembroke. Visiting Hours on Thursday Aug, 7 from 4:00 to 8:00PM.
