Lauren M. Simmons, age 57, of Portland, ME formerly of Woburn passed away peacefully August 1, 2014 following a short illness. Born in Winchester she was the daughter of the late John and Ethel (Shaw) McDonald.
Lauren was raised and educated in Woburn and was a 1975 graduate of Woburn High School. She worked for over thirty years as a registered nurse and worked for many of those years at the New England Rehabilitation Hospital in Woburn. Most recently she was employed as a concession worker at Hadlock Field, home of the Portland Sea Dogs. She loved working at the ball field serving the fans and making many lasting friendships. Lauren also enjoyed cooking, spending time at the beach and going to lunch with her friends. For a number of years Lauren volunteered her time at the Root Cellar in Portland where the area youth could come and interact with each other in a safe environment.
Lauren is survived by her daughters; Rebecca Simmons of Portland, ME, Cori Simmons of Boston, and Anna Simmons of Chattanooga, TN. Sister of Paul McDonald of Woburn and Marcia Swanson of Bridgeport, CT. Cousin and best friend of Patrice (Donaghey) Minton of Andover. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A funeral service will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Thursday, August 7th at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the service from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Lauren's memory to the Plymouth House, 446 Main St., Plymouth, NH 03264.
